Case Study 1




This post will be regarding my case study, and it is the starting point of my case study. My case study will be on a Multinational conglomerate company, Tencent. Tencent is a multinational investment holding conglomerate whose subsidiaries specialize in various Internet-related services and products, entertainment, and technology both in China and globally.











Tencent company is my choice for my case study because Tencent's gaming sector has achieved great success on developing a online competitive game name PUBG, PlayerUnknown's Battleground.The initial release date of this game was on 31st March 2017. And according to me as a gamer, no game that i have played so far, haven't reached such great height in success in such a short time. From the release date up till now it has sold over 24 million copies in Steam, which is a big online gaming client and I will say the biggest one in present time. So in 1 year they have reached such great success and it is a very good opportunity for me, as a game designer, to find out the key points in their development process, on this game.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of publisher Bluehole. The game designer of this game is Brendan Greene. I will also do research on the game designer also. The game i
s available on Steam, which can be purchased for 27.99 pounds and as well there is a free version on mobile phone called the PUBG Mobile.The PUBG corporation, publisher of the game PUBG, got the award recently 'The Game Award For Best Multiplayer Game'. The developers of the game are Tencent Games, Bluehole Studio Inc., PUBG Corporation. The game is also available to play on Xbone One via Xbox Game Preview program.

PUBG is running on Unreal Engine 4, one of my favorite engines out of all ones out there. Platform of pubg are Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Android, iOS. The genre is Battle Royale and it's mode is Multiplayer. Now I will explain about the game-play of PUBG. First of all when you get in the game, you have to create a character choosing your gender then customizing everything. Then you will be able to choose game mode and map type. Modes are Solo, Duo and Squad. In solo you play alone against other 99 players, in duo you have to play with 1 player as your team mate against other 98 and in squad you will have 3 players as your team and fight other 96 players. There is option to also invite your facebook friends or in-game friends which you will be able to make by adding them and they accepting you. So basically, this features are proving to be very promising for a successful competitive gaming experience. Ranking system is also integrated in the game which will keep players playing for long time. There is seasonal tier ranking where as  you play more in one season you get higher tier. And higher tier means you will be able to get good drops of items which are clothes to put on your character. I myself have played a lot of time in the game and got around with full super rare items equipped on my character. I will say the game doesn’t get me bored even if I play it 2-3 hours straight. I’m playing PUBG on my mobile for 3 weeks and planning to buy it in Steam.
