The Difference between Qualitative and Quantitative Research
Qualitative Research and Quantitative Research:
Let’s talk about Quantitative data, which means the
understanding of values and counts, expressed as numbers whereas Qualitative data
are measured in types and it may be explained in name, symbol or number code.
Similarly, Qualitative Research are exploratory research. It
is the method to understand reasons, opinions and motivations. It can be used
to look at further problems, or help develop ideas, or get hypothesis on a
potential quantitative research. With Qualitative research you can get a much
better insight regarding the problem you are trying to research on. Qualitative
data collection depends on methods with using structured techniques. Like
noting down group experiments, individual interviews or observation. It is
usually small amount of data, or is used to fulfil a given criteria.
Whereas, Quantitative Research is used to quantify the
problem by of writing numerical data or it be transformed into a usable
statistics graph. We normally, present quantitative research in quantify
opinions, behaviours and other defined variables. Quantitative research are
presented in online surveys, paper surveys and mobile surveys or any other way
of surveys, face to face interview, or interview via any other kind of
communication, online polls or even systemic observations.
So in conclusion, Qualitative is method of trying to explain quality and Quantitative is method of explaining the quantity. Simple as it sounds, understanding both is fairly simple.
