Case Study 2

Now it is time to look on a very interesting turn of event which has fascinated the gaming community. Basically, it all started from Player Unknown's Battle Grounds (PUBG) having a gradual decrease in gamers, on its steam platform. And I will also give my point of view, if the allegations PUBG did on Fortnite are real or not or even if they are on the right side. So, in my previous case study I have given my research solely on PUBG. Therefore, Fortnite is a similar type of game to PUBG, however,  when Fortnite first launched its game on beta version it did not have Battle Royale game mode. Fortnite had a game mode where players would play online with other players but do quests and missions. So, after Fortnite introduced Battle Royale, it made big hits, because it is a free-to-play game where there are in-game purchases but players can experience every aspect of the Battle Royal for free. After the release of Fortnite Battle Royale, PUBG developers were furious and they decided to solve things by filing a law suit against them regarding that Fortnite has copied the idea of Battle Royale from them.

I have so far researched on what is going on between them, but now it is time for my own opinions on the incident. Firstly, I will say I prefer to play PUBG more than Fortnite but there is a very important point to be noted, which puts PUBG in a disadvantage and Fornite on the winning spot at the end of lawsuit. The thing is PUBG was released on March 2017 and so far, there haven't been much updates given out to the gaming community, there were few of them like few new weapons and equipment introduced but the fixes on cheating and lags and geometric problem with vehicles flipping over on flat terrains haven’t been properly fixed, but then a free-to-play game like Fortnite has been very well updated with new features and fixes on problems which are being pointed out by the gaming community. To consider PUBG costs 27.99 pounds and the developers have been very lazy over the development of the game in the long-term and so the gaming community are getting fed up regarding this and so that is why they have lost over 1.8 million users on steam platform so far over this few months.

In conclusion, I will say PUBG developers to stop chasing Fortnite's success to make money out it. Because they already are a big company with a lot of money already profited out of the mass the gaming community, and there are still many gamers waiting desperately for PUBG to stop wasting time on fighting with Fortnite and concentrate on  strengthening their gaming features which is a big promise for the future.
